With the rise of AI engines, humanity now has direct access to the ultimate tool for summarizing. Turning complex information into easy-to-digest bits isn’t just useful; it’s a skill that usually takes years to master.
It demands a close understanding of the material and a keen eye for what truly matters in a document. That’s why it’s long been valued in upper management, where time is tight and access to information, if not overwhelming, is certainly too broad for decision-makers to handle alone.
The problem, however, now seems to have a solution. But, as the saying goes, today’s problems are born from yesterday’s solutions. We’re now flooded with AI-generated summaries that few people bother to read, produced by countless so-called “experts” who lack control, accountability, and, ultimately, real knowledge of the topics they’re summarizing.
This easy access to a vast compendium of human knowledge has given rise to many misconceptions that are not only misleading but verge on charlatanism. Like the idea that you can “prompt” your way into knowledge so popularized by sellers more interested in selling models that actually solving an issue.
True knowledge isn’t meant to be easy to acquire, nor should it be—it’s a pillar of civilized society. The distribution of knowledge underpins many economic issues, particularly since high-level jobs often rely solely on expertise.
Another issue is the illusion that knowledge is now universally accessible thanks to AI’s summarizing power. Even if AI could perfectly avoid errors, and never hallucinate, this idea is misleading; real understanding always requires human thought and engagement on the other end. AI serves as an amplifier, not a generator, of knowledge.
In simpler terms, it’s like shouting into a vacuum if the user has no grasp of what’s being discussed—both for the AI and the person using it.
This leads to another issue: the summaries themselves. We live in a time where summaries are readily available, yet ironically, no one “has time” to read them. The true era of misinformation didn’t start when fake information was created; it began when we all became too busy, or intellectually incapable, to challenge the opinions we encounter.
Having summaries generated without factual oversight seems almost inconsequential—not only are they often unread, but they also pile up as “data corpses,” serving more to train the next AI model than to contribute real knowledge. The problem is both created and enabled by lazy intellectuals unwilling to properly digest ideas that were already fragments of someone else’s thoughts.
As for solutions, we see moral and ethical guidelines for using AI technology everywhere. The core recommendations are simple: know your material, acknowledge that models can make mistakes, and take responsibility.
But at the heart of it, there’s only one real solution if we want to see genuine change: educate yourself, study, and acquire knowledge. This foundation will better insulate you from falsehoods—even those that may slip into your own ideas.
